Lots Goings On
Wow - it's been a fun past 12 days!
The Breedorfs arrived a couple days after the 4th and we had a nice visit. That Theo is one chunky monkey. Usually, when I hold babies, I am amazed by how light they are, compared to 28 lb. Charlie. But not little man T. After holding him for about 12 minutes I had to sit - I consulted Mr. Monkey and, thankfully, he did not put up an argument. He's a sweet baby -
very content.
Joe and Kris came over to meet Mr. T-Man and loved him instantly. It was awesome of them to come.
It was also great to visit with Theo's parents, even if Mr. Breedorf is the worst houseguest ever. I'm not even going to go into it.
But the visit was short and before I knew it, they were pulling out of our driveway and I became so sad for Seattle that I actually ached. Southern California is beautiful. The ocean inspires awe. The sun that bakes my skin is tempered by the cool seaside breezes.
But it's not home.
It is, however, home right now, so Charlie and I took advantage of the hot summer days by playing in the backyard with his water table. He has a new quirk - he dips his face into the water in order to soak the big curl at the top of his head. He then whips his head back and opens his mouth to catch the drips.
I'm trying to convince him that a sippy cup is much more efficient, but he rejects the sippy cup with a passion. We are weaning him off the bottle, so I guess if this is how he's gonna get hydrated, then that's cool.
(Don't freak out, people. I'm feeding him lots of watermelon and letting him drink from water bottles and the hose - and he still gets 2 bottles a day so he's fine.)
He also gets soaked when he goes to his grandparents' house. First, he played with this tiny yellow tub filled with water. There's a picture of Jase sitting in the same exact tub when he was Charlie's age. Then, he was upgraded to a water-filled storage bin. He enjoys both way too much.
In other news, Jase's rocks have completed Phase 2 - the Fine Grit stage - and have just entered Phase 3 - Pre-Polish. I have new pics. I know it sounds geeky. But actually, it's pretty cool. We're both enjoying it more than we should.
