Charlie's Best Friend is Finally Here!

His name is Theo.

Look how adorable he is!!!! He was born on March 23 at the exact same time as his best friend Charlie, 1:01pm.

The difference being, not only was his mom conscious during his birth, but she was drug free.

Dude, Mrs. Breedorf is TOUGH. I'm telling you - when she takes on a project, she is focused. I should know - I took knitting lessons with her. She can purl with the best of them after one lesson. She is already a fantastic mother.

And Mr. Breedorf was a great coach. That I was not as confident about. I mean, sure, he can focus as well as the missus, but usually only on one-dimensional images on a computer screen.

Okay - that's not fair. I knew Mr. Breedorf would be awesome too - he took his duties very seriously - he even bought the Pocket Doula as backup. Not many guys would do that. Or at least admit to it. Mr. Breedorf wrote all about the birth on their blog. He kicks ass as a dad.

So 6 hours after getting to the hospital, the Breedorfs had their latest member safe in their arms. Now we just need to live in the same zip codes again and these two will be throwing rocks on cars just like my brother did with his best friend.

We love him already, guys.

New Pics!

Uh, so my mom Joan came to visit a month ago, and I'm just now getting to putting the pics of my house online. For those of you who are unaware, my mom is a bit of an interior artiste - she and her best friend started their own interior arranging business a few years ago called "Arrange for Change". What they do is take stuff you already have and rearrange it so it looks better. But see, I didn't quite have enough to "make it work" and so we went shopping for a bunch of accessories.

Anyway, here are the results. The only pics I don't have are from the master bedroom, because it's a mess. It's always the last room I get to - anyway, enjoy - and give Joan a shout out - she kicks ass.

Also, I got my birthday present from my sister the other day - check it out. If you didn't watch Project Runway, it won't make sense. (Jase enjoyed taking these pics, btw.)

Update: Two people have asked me if my sister Anne bought me fake boobs for my birthday - one of them being my brother, who is mortified and wishes I never sent him the link. No, those are mine - she bought me the t-shirt. The shirt makes my bosom appear larger than they are in real life. It's an optical illusion - smoke and mirrors. Jase wants me to get 5 or 6 more and rotate them.

The Dog Beach

This morning, the whole family took a trip to the Dog Beach in Del Mar. Boo Boo loved running leash-free. Jase collected shells. I took pictures. And Charlie looked a bit cold, even though he was layered up in a sweatshirt, long-sleeve onesie, jeans and socks. Lightweight.

Check out the Gallery to see all the exquisite photographs, taken by moi.

The World-Famous San Diego Zoo

We went to the zoo!

Yesterday, I turned 35. So to celebrate, Jason, Charlie and I decided to visit the San Diego Zoo.

When we woke this morning, it was omninously cloudy - not a good sign in San Diego. Usually here, clouds=rain. And rain it did - it was pouring when we went to get gas. But we decided to press forward with our plan - and if it was too wet, we would just drive around San Diego and go to the zoo another time.

So we drove to Coronado Island to check that out and it was awesome - such a beautiful area with cute, small houses and the grand Hotel del Coronado, which we just drove by but it's huge and looks elegant and regal. Like something you would see in a movie.

By this time, the rain had stopped and it even looked lke the sun was trying to make an appearance, so we headed to the zoo, getting a terrific parking spot. That's one plus - if you go to the San Diego Zoo on one of the 10 days it rains down here, you're not going to have to fight crowds. We layered Charlie in a sweatshirt and jean jacket, loaded him up in his brand new umbrella stroller, and headed out.

Well, everything they say about this zoo is true - it is awesome. The best were, of course, the pandas. I could go on and on, but I think it's best if you just check out the pics.

It was a great way to celebrate my birthday.

Favorite Charlie Moment of the Day

So my mom came out last week and we were so busy I totally didn't have time to update! I just need to recharge my batteries in my camera - then I will take pictures of all the wonderful things my mom did to make my house look FAB! Thanks, Mom!

In the meantime, I thought I would record my favorite moments with Charlie, because I tend to forget these after a night of being awakened 4 times to the shrill shrieks of a 14-month old.

Today, Charlie and I were in the car waiting for Jason. See, Charlie had fallen asleep so instead of waking him up, we both thought it wise that I stay in the car with him while Jason attended to his business. We've learned a thing or two in this whole parenting thing.

So Charlie woke up and was instantly crabby. I took him out of his car seat and placed him on my lap, facing me, with my feet on the dashboard. I then turned Luna on the CD player, and Charlie and I mellowed out. I bounced my heels to the music and Charlie was lulled into a half-sleep stupor that concluded with him closing his eyes and falling face first into my chest. I spent the next 15 minutes listening to Luna, watching the color of the sky change to black, with my baby boy peacefully asleep on my chest, just breathing in and out.
